Semper Elementary is an exceptional Preschool to 5th grade elementary school that offers a variety of experiences for children.

Semper Elementary has incredibly caring and committed people that are a part of our learning community. Our staff is an amazing group of international educators who are fully dedicated to our students' social, emotional, and academic development. Many of our staff have worked at Semper for ten or more years and when asked why they love working at Semper, they always talk about how much they value and appreciate our students and families. We teach approximately 300 students who represent more than ten different countries. Our families are very supportive in our school and are actively engaged in their children’s learning. As a learning community, we all work together to make our school the best it can be for our kids.

Semper Elementary is a school-wide authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) World School and delivers the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for the IB Preschool-12th grade Standley Lake area. The International Baccalaureate programme provides a rigorous, inquiry based approach to learning. As students progress through the IB programmes at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, they learn how to think as “internationally- minded” citizens.

At Semper we believe that the IB PYP provides a strong foundation for learning which develops confident life-long learners who are prepared for the challenges of our ever changing world. Our mission statement highlights this belief: The Charles Semper Elementary community promotes the power of learning through the development of knowledgeable lifelong learners utilizing inquiry and creativity. We will develop critical thinkers who respect and appreciate the differences of others, collaborate and communicate in a caring and compassionate way in order to actively participate in a peaceful, global and diverse world. We are the, “Pioneers for the Future.”

Most importantly, Semper Elementary provides a safe and nurturing environment for our students to learn and grow. Our staff strives to build strong relationships with every student. In turn, students feel comfortable challenging themselves, learning new things and taking risks. Our entire school community is committed to ensuring that all of our students feel safe and supported to achieve their fullest potential academically, socially and emotionally.
